My friend of almost 20 years is always blaming me and my kids for her faults. I can not bring myself to tell her to stop.
I am intimidated by her, you can not argue with this person.

First you have to know that you are not responsable for her faults.Yuo should not be afraid or intimidated by her.you kids do not have anything to do with her problems.she is an adult that have to grow up and take the responsability of her accions.you sould tel her that you like her very much but is time for her to leave you out of her problems and to leave you and your kids alone if she want to continue to be your friend because she is not respecting the terms of frienships.A friend dont blame other friend for their own problems.

Well twenty years is a long time. You need to ask yourself the question of how hard will it be to live without this person in your life. Do you want to go the next twenty years like this? Ending a friendship is one of the hardest things to do. Why don't you sit your friend down and tell her or him how you feel and see if he or she respects you enough to try and make a change.

When she gets to talking like that just ask her why she still wants to be your friend. It's a legitimate question. You can tell her to not let the door slap on the butt on the way out too. LOL (Make that comment into a joke of course.)

If you don't want to confront or argue with her, you should just be unavailable. If she calls or wants to see you, tell her you are busy. After a while she will get the message. If you can start socialising with other people and gradually cut her out of your social circle.
