It seems to me our purpose is to find a more lasting happiness than most things can provide, transitory [& therefore unsatisfactory] as they are. (money, possessions, drugs or alcohol, a mate @/or family, success in career, beachy vacations, etc.)

Everything we do is (more or less) a movement toward that goal.
There are as many paths as there are people.
All paths involve mistakes, suffering & loss.

Don't worry - you can't learn that the temporary stuff is truly worthless until you've tried whatever appeals to you & found it deficient.

The worse mistake you can make is not learning from your mistakes. Beyond this one point, it doesn't much matter what you do. Things will change & so will you. (as long as you are alive)

So don't waste another moment in worry about the future or second-guessing the present; you'll only make yourself feel bad & throw away precious time from your young life. (I know because I did exactly this)

Harm none, do what you will, & keep both neocortex & heart center fully engaged & open for new experiences.

Sufficiently vague? Good. You fill in the rest!

Peace,

;-)

You have a simple purpose in this life, "to love" it's not easy, but there you have it. Love has no fear, it gives you your reason to exist, a purpose on earth, and so much more than I could express in one answer. It is a lifelong obligation and over the years you find what it is and how to live by it's laws, and you die with a purpose. However long you are here, another month, year, decade, or decades; you will leave this life knowing why you were here.

My opinion, not meaning to discredit anyone elses.

My sweet Aldara noted this to me,,perhaps the most valid advice I've ever received. "Let The Universe take care of the Details"

The fact that you ASK isn't something you should stress over, especially before the fact.

Life,,, however anyone defines it and it's aspects, is meant to be a test certainly, but one gains "experience" by "experiencing" and if we make decisions based on ingrained learning alone, or fear of exploring, we most definitely will pass over, or block opportunities that might offer positive outcomes. Obviously there will be "stones in the road" but dealing with them as "stones" not mountains, is a progressive step toward whatever we want to define as success or fulfillment.

Thinking or acting outside "The Box" has become a very tired cliche, but its validity remains strong.

Explore and nurture your passions. Use any education selectively, not squandering it. Life is long,,, Pace yourself.

Your purpose, your only true purpose is to be in relationship with other people. Period.

What you do to make money has nothing to do with the purpose of life or the meaning of life. When you draw your last breath, all that will matter is who you loved and whom loved you.

No one will give a rat's rear end what you did for a living.

ah..

also being a young college student.. i have pondered this subject many times myself.

Often it makes me depressed. I can never find a purpose for life.. I try not to think about it and just go on a day-to-day basis.

I've asked communities this same question. They all say the same thing
"you are born, live, pay taxes, then die. All for what? Nothing."

Blarg.... i wish life did have a definate purposee....

Ask and you will receive. Ask for guidance, say thank you, and forget it for awhile. Stop demanding an answer to your question. Just go with the flow you've got in motion in you life, and never say no when an opportunity arises. If things come easily to you, you are on the right path. If you are constantly fighting an up stream battle, you are probably not on the right path. Remember what they say, Watch out for what you wish for, you will most likely get it. Look for things that make you happy. Things you enjoy doing, and hopefully you can make a career out of it.

Do what you love. Whatever makes you happiest is the purpose of your life. Give yourself time & space to find out what that is. When you're young & the world is your oyster, sometimes all the choices can seem overwhelming. Follow your heart. You'll know when something feels right.

Good luck!

The purpose of life is to have a beginning, and to have an ending. Accept life for what it is. You'll discover your purpose after you're dead. If all you do in life is worry about why you're alive, then you'll have lived a meaningless life.

If you are a young college student, it's too early to tell. I got a degree in languages and now have my own computer networking business. Just pursue what interests you.

It takes time. You know what you like. Do you want a family, travel, lots of money???? You have to think about the kind of life you want to live & that can help you decide on a career.
