When you read all the fine print, and actually compare what each company is givng you have to spend alot of time to understand each plans details, committments, termination fees, etc...It seems these mobil cell plans rake you over the coals. I want to chose one that works well for two phones. One parent, one child to be able to keep in touch. Any ideas or suggestions?

depends on what you are looking for. these days all of the plans compare in price to minutes. with verizon, cingular, and sprint there priceplans are identical for 2 phones. $59.99 for 550 minutes, $69.99 for 700 minutes, $89.99 for 1400 minutes and up. with cingular you get unlimited mobile to mobile for all cingular and att customers as well as rollover minutes so all of your minutes you dont use will rollover for a maximum of 12 months you will then lose the minutes from the first month after 12 months so the rollover minutes are seperate for months and will slide along a in 12 month incriments. you also get the largest gsm calling area and the most reliable network. sprint gives you free nights at 7pm with unlimited calling to all sprint and nextel customers, and verizon really gives you nothing, your nights start at 9 but you get unlimited calling to all verizon customers. the termination fees for sprint are now $200 per line, with cingular and verizon being $175 per line, it depends on what state you live in since some states have prorated cancellation fees. meaning the cancellation fee would be less depending on how long you ahve been with the company. cingular has the best upgrade program though for a new phone giving you a $200 credit every 18 months, with sprint and verizon its $150 every 23 months. cingular also has the best deal on phones too. activation fees are always $36 for the first line and for cingular and sprint right now its $26 for the second line, however you can catch a promotion with waived activation fees sometimes however they are never advertised. as far as phones go, i would check out radioshack first as they have the lowest prices on both cingular and sprint phones. cingular is great for rollover minuets and sprint is great for free nights at 7 it really depends on how you are using your phone, if you and your child will be using your phone more during the day i would go with cingular since they have the rollover.

T-Mobile. I had it all throughout college and still have it now as my only phone. You can call your mom or friends or other relatives without using minutes if they also have T-Mobile. At least where I live, in GA, the service is better than Verizon, Sprint, and Cingular. I've never had a dropped call and the voice quality is crystal, just like a land-line. It is not expensive service either.

Verizon
They have a gr8 family plan (i think its called family plan)
u can call and i think text your family for free and you can call other verizon customers for free...also u can use the pay as u go phone....doesn't really do anything w/ the family plan. U should also know that most of the carriers (or at least Verizon) give you anywhere from 1-4 free phones if you join a plan for 2 yrs. Hope this helps
God Bless you :P

I disagree with the first answer. I love Cingular - GREAT coverage and a good deal on their Family Talk plan. My mom and I share. You get free long distance, no roaming, rollover, and it's a good price. I'm not sure what kind of committment we had to make, but we've had Cingular forever and I have never been disappointed.

Verizon is the best... The best service, the most coverage.. the most reliable... For the phones, go to best buy... they're usually cheaper than at the store... I just signed up with verizon a couple of days ago with a 0$ sec. deposit, and 2 RAZR phones for $100. Really helpful, and they have a wonderful customer service department!!! Hope this helps!! :) I have 2 lines of service, and I was able to keep my previous numbers!
