The Catholic Church agrees with the U.S. Constitution as currently interpreted by the U.S. Supreme Court and does not support "structured" prayer in public schools.
In the Vatican II document, DECLARATION ON RELIGIOUS FREEDOM, DIGNITATIS HUMANAE (Human Dignity), the Church states:
The human person has a right to religious freedom. This freedom means that all men are to be immune from coercion on the part of individuals or of social groups and of any human power, in such wise that no one is to be forced to act in a manner contrary to his own beliefs, whether privately or publicly, whether alone or in association with others, within due limits.
Children will continue to privately pray before tests just like they always have.
With love in Christ.

Your question is ambiguous.
Should we have water flowing in our houses?
Students and faculty should be free to pray on their own time in school, but not force others to become a captive audience to their prayer.
And, of course, the school should not select a prayer and attempt to make the students listen or participate their prayer because then the students and other employees would not be free to practice only their own religion.

I am a conservative politically. However, I do not think prayer belongs in public schools basically because of the diversity in our school population. There are MANY religious belief systems and those who adhere to none which is their right under our Constitution. Therefore, prayer or a lack of it should be an individual decision and has no place in a public school setting.

I believe that prayer has no business in schools. Schools should be for learning the facts not anything to do with religion. That is what churches are for.

Whether you like it or not there will be prayer in school. There will be a student praying to pass a test they didn't study for.

No, but there should be prayer or some moral guidance at home. The kids today are sadly missing this. And it shows.

No, not every person believes in god you know. I'll have a prayer at school the day we have a satanic ritual.

Perhaps you intended ..."public prayer"... since anyone may pray privately in the privacy of their own mind at any time. Although it seems to me that the personal aspect is more important, it is the public aspect that gets us involved in turmoil.
