Even when IExplorer is not running, I get pop-up ads asking me to buy Anti-malware software. I also have a new toolbar that has appeared called the "Protection bar." I'm pretty sure they are related to each other. Also, occasionally, an ad for "Adult Friend Finder" with explicit photos pops up. I am using PC-cillin, Trend Anti-spyware, SpywareBlaster, Spybot S&D, & Ad-aware running. Nothing helps. Can someone tell me how to get rid of these annoying issues?

My response to you would be first if you have Microsoft XP make sure that you have service pack 2 installed and check to see if your pop up blocker is turned on. The pop -up blocker tool is found via the tools button in the IE Browser. Second, the best Anti-spyware as far as I am concerned on the market is Webroot's Spysweeper. You can download from the web. I think initial price may be $30.00 but yearly renewals are only $20 and it is more than worth its weight in gold. Third. Service Pack 2 comes installed with a firewall but it is not as good as Zone Alarm's firewall and you can get a free version of that too. Hope this helps. Oh yes, Go through your Add/remove programs list in the control panel and delete anything there that doesn't sound familiar to you. The google and the Yahoo toolbar may be OK, but overall tool bars are bad news. And if you have smiley central on your computer, toss it. It's full of spyware. Same for cursor programs. Well that's a start at least. Good luck.
PS. I don't advise playing around with your registry unless you are really computer savy and know what you are doing.. It's really much easier and safer letting a good program like Spysweeper do it for you. They are experts at that and will know exactly what to delete and what to leave alone. Another problem with doing it yourself is that many spyware programs disguise their identity so you are not really removing all their files from the registry anyway.

The only way is to delete their names from registry. For that you have to click on start > run. Type regedit. press ok. Select Edit > Find. Type in the name of the offending software for example "adult friend finder" or "protection bar". click on search next. The search stops on the entry. Read it to make sure it is the entry that you want to remove. In case of doubt leave it and press F3. If you are sure then right click on it and select delete. Then press F3 to search for the new entry.
Search and delete the names of the offending software.

However there are some precautions you need to take and that is first make a backup copy of the registry. For that Click on
File > Export . Give a name and select location and save the registry backup copy. In case something is deleted from the registry that should not have been deleted, then you can open the registry again and Press File > Import, select the backup file , and you will get the registry back to its original position.

Get somehing extra constructive then each and every of the loose suff (use that as backup) try getting Kaspersky AV, and both secret agent Sweeper or SpyDocotr. Then swap to Opera broswer or Firefox browser as those might want to have a lot less pop-ups.
