ok well...

a few months ago.. or perhaps it was about a year ago..

I started coughing........ and didnt stop.. for a long time... like a month or 2 or something. then it went away..

and now recently, it started again..

It's like. I FEEL fine.. i dont feel sick at all i just cough all the time.. I am SO embarrased at college when i cough so much.. i have to suck on something like hard candy or something so it calms down a bit..

It SEEMS to be worse at night for some reason.. sometimes i get coughin so hard my face turns red... it's really weird...

I fell asleep on the couch once and my dad said i didnt cough in my sleep..

does anyone have any idea as to what this may be??

It's very odd... and i looked on the internet and couldnt find anything real helpful.

Thanks for your imput! :)

Also.. it's not like a hoarse cough.. it's a dry normal cough.. like if something went down the wrong way only without the something that went down X_X

so i DONT think it's whooping cough

Listen up you. Go to your doctor. Don't mess around and think just because it went away once it'll go away again and there's not a problem. I don't know if you know who Billy Jean King is. She was a very famous tennis player. She had something called walking pneumonia and didn't know it for years. I'm not saying that's what you have. I can name other things. Some very serious. Some not. But only a doctor can make the correct diagnosis. Maybe it is nothing. Maybe it's something serious. Make the appointment tomorrow. Do it!!

I had a similar problem before. I actually cough for the whole month day and night (almost every minute). It was so annoying. The following are the things that I did to alleviate my discomfort:
1). I went hiking for 2 days in the mountains. Walking up and down the mountains for many hours (try not to rest too much, vigorous hiking helps). And spend 2 nights there. My coughing actually stop.
2). After 2 weeks later, it was about to come back again. I took 2 multivitamins (have large amount of vitamin a, c, and e) everytime when I felt I was about to cough again. I also drink alot of warm water, not cold water. My coughing did finally stop.
Hope this will help you too.

CAIT, DO YOU SMOKE, ARE YOU AROUND PEOPLE THAT SMOKE. SOMETIMES I COUGH IN CHURCH, AND I HAVE TO SUCK ON A PIECE OF CANDY, SOMETIMES IT'S B/C YOU ARE NERVOUS. THERE ARE LOTS OF REASONS WHY YOU COUGH, YOU HAVE TO FIGURE IT OUT, THEN NARROW IT DOWN.
