Red blood: hemorrhoids (inner pile) Consult a doctor. it can be cured easily.

Dark blood: could also be a liver problem. Tap lightly at his ribs with fingers. If he feels pain, he has a very serious liver
problem. He should not lose any more time in seeing a doctor.

That depends. If it is bright red fresh blood it could be as simple as a slight tear in the anus from straining or it could be serious like prostate cancer or any of a number of things.

If it is black blood or looks like coffee grounds, it is most likely an ulcer.

Does the blood turn the toilet water red and does it drip while he is sitting but stops when finished? That is most likely a tear and happens quiet frequently. If it continues for more than a couple days or if he starts getting weak and or tired easily, go to a doctor immediately! Blood loss can be serious and left unchecked could kill.

I am a guy and our diets tend to constipate us so the straining can blow tiny blood vessels or create slight tears. Usually it's not serious.

And we ALL hate to have the chute checked by a doctor but sometimes it must be done.

Good luck!

He could have grazed his inner walls thru a difficult passing motion ( number 2 )cannot be very sure, but it could mean also he's developing Haemorroids or been drinking too little water.

Chinese Herb doctors believe food and drinks is divided into catergories like "Heat" and "Cool". Too much "Heat" causes bloody stool.

Dos: Drink more water ( which cools ), Fruits but not the asian durian... Go See a Physician
avoid: Spicy foods, Deep Fried stuff

Possibly he's got piles or maybe just skin fissure. Doesn't really matter if he doesn't feel painful when he's bowel movement. It can just be alleviated by some pile cream which are available at boots, possibly preparation R. If he is really painful then I suggest he should go to his GP and has it examined to be on a safe side. External pile can be suffering but internal piles can be damaging.
