Smell is one of our most powerful senses for evoking memories. I'll occasionally smell a smell that I haven't encountered since I was a small kid and sometimes I can place it and sometimes not but it usually is a strange feeling when those memories that old come out of nowhere.

Yeah and that's because you get used to repetition and if certain people use the same perfume cologne and you smell it somewhere else you may smell them, we learn those scents by repetition that happened to me at Target today I smelled this guy that I'm friends with but some other guy just had the same cologne on.. it was odd.

When I was a child I loved going to my Aunt's house. The house was always clean and always smelt like something cooking, and her flowers, I really don't know the entire ingredient in the smell of her house. I am 57 years old now and to this day, my Aunt's house still has that wonderful fragrance.Someone could blindfold me and take her into her house and I would know exactly where I was.

Yes it does......... When i smell roses i think of my grandmother because she wore rose perfume.

My friend's son had a car wreck and he didnt know anyone and the Dr's told her to put things under his nose for him to smell so that maybe it would create a memory for him so it is a fact that smells bring back memories of different things.

i remember once i was in foley's and i was buying my grandma some perfume and i smelled a few to get an idea, she likes the sweet smelling ones, so i smelled one and it brought back memories of when i was maybe 4 yrs old and hugging my grandma. well i bought it and i gave it to her and she cried because she said it was the perfume her son used to buy her many years ago, she said she had not worn it since i was a baby so i had a memory and so did she. that was awesome.

Oh my gosh, Yes!! When I smell (yeah I know weird huh!) or drink Dr. Pepper I think of the summer! When I smell certain types of colognes or perfumes they remind me of my family or friends. It's kinda weird, but comforting.
