Why do you hide things from anybody ... There are things he want kept secret. Do you read his mail too? There are more reasons to hide stuff from a wife than having an affair. He might just like looking at nude pictures of girls doing what he wouldn't want his wife to do. Or he could have an on line friend that he likes to vent too, or harmless flirting. I'm just guessing if you want to know ask him. By the way do you like him going through your purse?

Most of the time if he's hiding them it's because of an affair or other problem like gambling debt. Some guys just like their privacy and feel like you don't trust them if you want to see. There is also a very small possibility that it is about a Christmas present or other surprise. It's also possible that if husband and wife have very different views, he might just be looking to avoid a fight. I know my ex-husband and I avoided reading each others political correspondence. There was nothing to hide and we knew the the main areas of disagreement but chose not to subject each other to a constant debate. The divorce had nothing to do with either of us hiding anything or having an affair.

1.) Some people just like a little privacy
2.) Might be evidence of something he is ashamed of- a wrongdoing, jokes in bad taste, soft core porn, financial misconduct, personal weakness, past indiscretion, etc.
3.) E-mails might contain ideas and thoughts that would bother the wife- blowing off steam, sharing things that irritate him about her, etc.
4.) Might be trying to do something nice and keeping the planning a secret.
5.) Might consider the e-mails to be of no consequence, or business related, or stupid guy stuff...
While I am bothered by a guy hiding his e-mail, I have to confess that I am REALLY bothered by a wife who seems to feel she needs to know all of the contents.
Feeling nagged all by itself will often drive a guy to keep secrets. If he does not feel trusted, he will not share as much. If he feels she is prying, he will hide things deeper.

If your husband is preventing him from reading his emails - then he is obviously hiding something from you that he doesnt want you to know about - maybe an affair or something sleazy like that. But if you want to think positively - the holidays are on the way and maybe he is ordering stuff for you online and he wants to keep all the confirmation details away from you!!!

I don't believe that a husband and a wife have to share everything, but if you are curious and he's acting suspicious, then the answer you need is right under your nose. He might not be having an affair, but there are some definite trust issues you two need to work through.

Every one needs some privacy. The computer can bring you to the different world and you just want to keep it for yourself.
Is like a letter from your parent you read first but you don't want to show to anybody else. No reason to fight or have some imagination - stop stressing yourself. Better computer then coming late and lied how hard he was working. Let him be a Little kid on the computer.

Or ordering you a present on line.
Or has a job with actual sensitive information.
Or has an ex bugging the crap out of him and he knows how you would take it if you found out.
Or has signed up for a pornographic website and does not want you to know.
Or maybe he's having an affair.
Honestly, there are plenty of reasons that he might choose to keep an email private.

It might not necessarily mean that he IS having an affair. Some men simply like to keep some things private--especially in business deals.

I agree with whats-it up there...I hide my emails too because I am getting gifts etc. But I also hide the ones to male friends he doesn't know. They are totally innocent, but I don't want him to feel jealous.
On the other hand, it could very well be because hes having some cyber-fun :(

Because he's chatting it up with another woman, and probably having an affair, or contemplating it. If he is honest, trustworthy, and committed to the relationship, he shouldn't have anything to hide from you.
