First, my recommendation is that you see a doctor. Most of what you're describing sounds like something that I'll address below, but your weight loss is something that concerns me since you don't indicate you've been trying to lose weight.
Assuming that your doctor finds you healthy, I can suggest something very simple to you - Benefiber or FiberSure products. You can get them at every Walgreen's, CVS or any grocery store. They're not disgusting like they used to be. They are now comlpetely dissolvable in liquids and completely flavorless and textureless. I take 3 servings a day in tea and water. I don't even know I"m drinking it.
I also, when the need arises, take a stool softener. I am also a 41 year old female lol! I had some similar problems a few months ago and my dr. ordered a colonoscopy (always a good idea, even if it's not pleasant - but truthfully, apart from the preps the day before, it's really nothing - I was asleep for the whole thing). He also advised the added fiber supplements and the stool softener. My life is much easier.
AFA trapped gas, try Beano.
But most importantly, make an appt. with a gastroenterologist. If you have an HMO, call your primary physician and ask for a referral. If you have a PPO, you should be able to contact one directly and make the appt. yourself.
Trust me - I was in as bad a shape as you - and I had blood in my stool - and now, I have few problems.
This is something to be concerned about, but it's also something that's easily corrected. I wish you the best!
And hell with anyone who wants to laugh at your post or be an idiot about it. Some people just can't grow up.

FiberCon caplets. Take two in AM and two in PM until you get some results. Then take two every day. They are pretty amazing. They also contain calcium and magnesium. They are a natural fiber laxative. No cramping or side effects like stimulant laxatives.
You can get a trial pack at any pharmacy or WalMart for about eight bucks. I buy the large bottle. It is cheaper that way.
Also drink a lot of water to help move things along.
The water will help with the bloating also, It doesn't sound like it would but it is a natural diuretic. Try to reduce salt to reduce bloating. Sound like you are on the right track with eliminating the white bread and fatty foods.

Sadly, I feel your pain. Have you tried taking stool softners with your meals? This helps me and I also have been told to drink a teaspoon of sea salt with water and that usually helps the situation (overnight). You might also some digestive enzymes those also help me. I tried everything too.. good Luck!

A person really should have a good bowel movement every day or every other day. If you don't, the food is sitting in your colon rotting and making you sick and could potentially lead to colon cancer. I'm glad you've asked this question, but the answer is not taking a laxative. You need to put forth some effort, and let me tell you what to do.
In order to have a regular bowel movement, you need 4 things
1. Fiber
2. Water
3. Exercise (walking is good)
4. Bowel schedule
I'll explain each one
You need to increase the amount of fiber you take in. Fruits and veggies are high in fiber. Eating plums and prunes are especially helpful. Eating a bowel of Kelloggs Extra Fiber All Bran is the best way. One bowel a day will give you a large bowel movement every day. It takes some getting used to on the taste, but you can easily sprinkle some cinnamon over it and slice some strawberries or bananas on it.......but definitely eat one bowl of the Kelloggs EXtra Fiber Cereal. Apples are also high in fiber as are beans, corn, and lots of other fruits and veggies.
Next, you need water. Although things like coffee, tea, and colas are fine, you really need to drink several glasses of water every day to keep your bowels regular. I happen to love drinking water, but I've met people who don't like it, so maybe put a slice of lemon in yours to help with taste.
Next, you need a little exercise. I'm not talking strenuous, but how about a 20 minute walk every day? Walking increases the "peristaltic waves" of your bowels. These are the waves that push the stool through your colon to the rectum. Walking will increase how often these waves push and help you have regular bowel movements.
Last, get your bowels on a schedule. I know it sounds funny, but most people always have their bowel movements at the same time of day. Mine always occur about 20 minutes after I finish eating breakfast. Some people have theirs after supper. Listen to you body and learn when you start feeling like you need to go......and never ignore the urge. People in today's society are very busy running around and they actually will train their bowels not to give them the "urge" because they are too busy to stop and listen to their bodies. You can actually train your body to always have a bowel movement at a certain time of day, but it does take time and effort.
Put reading material near your toilet, and give your body time.
Last, but not least, NEVER strain while you are on the toilet. When you bear down and strain, you are putting direct strain on your HEART. A lot of people in this world have heart attacks while sitting on a commode having a bowel movement. Elvis is a perfect example. I'm a cardiac nurse, and I've had to start CPR on many patients who went into cardiac arrest while sitting on a toilet...........so promise me you'll never do that hold your breath and bear down hard movement (called a valsalva maneover)
Also, please get off those fiber tablets and over the counter laxatives. They just train your bowels to be dependent on them and they are obviously not working for you.
I promise if you try one bowl of "Kelloggs Extra Fiber All Bran" you'll never miss a BM again. It may taste like sticks, but honestly you can dress it up with fruit and cinnamon and learn to love the taste.
You can prevent colon cancer by keeping your bowels regular.
Good luck to you
Robin

Take one tablespoon of their Colonix fiber every morning. There's 32% of your dietary fiber right there.
I mix this up with chocolate soy milk every morning, and it makes for the best breakfast shake! Keeps you full for awhile, too.
Just make sure to drink plenty of water with your fiber, or it'll have the opposite effect you want it to.

Water is very good for this problem. At least 8 tall glasses a day. Also something else that is great is whole blonde psyllium seed. It's hard to find, but it works and it's totally natural.

I eat FiberOne cereal -- one small bowl every morning. Works like a charm. Also, if you like it, yogurt helps.
