I am trying to find out if anyone knows the statute of limitations for child molestation in Louisiana in 1996?

Art. 571.1 - For certain sexual offenses – Time allotted for prosecution, which involves a victim under 17, shall be ten years. This ten-year period begins to run when the victim attains the age of eighteen.
Allows prosecution of sex crimes within three years of statutory statute of limitations when the identity of the offender is established thereafter with a DNA profile, with retroactive application.

I believe that the statute is still in-effect. I mean if stars who say they were molested when they where young can still press charges why can't you? I would call the police and tell them what happened then find out if you can still press charges and if they say "yes" then do so.

If nothing else, I would at least try to notify the local police department that he is in the area, maybe they will be able to assist you. You could also try to contact a lawyer just to ask. Best of luck to you, I am sorry that that happened to you.

i think you stil have time to report him al you have to do is call the District attorneys office and ask him. they will talk to you . in some states if you have pased the age of 28 then the atatue has expired.
