Nuclear warheads are like cereals. They have different brands.
Not all nuclear weapons are the same, as such. They are all designed to cause massive devastation, but whether or not the missile itself will be a success is a question. Thus, they will conduct experiments to ensure its efficiency.

nuke warfare 101. If N K had 10 kg of wpns grade fusible material total, and little chance of ever getting anymore, then all they have is 10 kg.
The first test was most likely used 2 kg of material. A second test will most likely use the exact same amount, and the ancillary test will point out ways of improving future test. that will leave about 5.75 - 6 kg fusible material, in which they could have another minor test, or go for the whole 6 kg bomb.
Every test will show ways of improving yield and reducing the size of the components need to producing a functioning weapon.

The point in Korea was to show the US that it needs to stop threatening the world. This is not being done by N. Korea alone.
Do not think that. It is a message being sent out by bigger players
that a attack on Iran will bring serious consequences to those involved. These test have nothing to do with north korea other then putting Kim out front as a looney, he is not a looney and this is a global chess game. With real bombs and moves. The one that makes the wrong move could lose everything. I think that Israel needs to be extremely careful at this time or they could lose there queen and there country.

to make sure that your technology works. what if you build a weapon of war, then you are involved in a conflict only to find out that your weapons don't work. you lose your war and your country. it also works as a deterrent. you let the world know that they just gained another nuclear player.
