well, i don't really know. We are obsessed with celebrities everywhere, actually. i guess it's something that gets the entire planet brain-washed or something. I don't really care, either. i mean, i like SOME celebrities, but i don't worship them. And yeah, who cares about jennifer aniston's evolving style????

Obsession with celebrities is nothing! Wait til you witness America's obsession with SPORTS!!! Nothing compares to the idol worship and adoration of ATHLETES in the U.S. Especially Baseball & Football. Those ball players are hailed as Saints. After awhile Jennifer Aniston's style will be a breath of fresh air to you! Welcome to America, Honey!!!!

that was the "movie" on the plane? wow we saw "the shaggy dog" believe me not much better but at least it was a movie.
i think people feel better about themselves when they see people with tons of money messing up their lives. we gawk at the cost of weddings in hollywood, we love the baby photos like somehow we really know these people. i get tired of it after awhile. i usually get my celeb news from the internet, and if i must buy a mag i will buy one every other week.
it is sad there is a lot more going on in the world, but this is a way to get away from all of that

Simple - by focusing on celebrities, Americans can ignore all the important issues like Constitutional rights, the carnage in Iraq, nuclear proliferation in North Korea, rampant corruption in Washington, yada yada yada.
Ignorance is bliss, eh?

I agree not American here but it funny how Americans are obsessed with celebrity. I can't understand it. Is there something lacking in their own lives or what?

3 reasons...
1. we like to live vicariously through what we read and see about people who, supposedly, are living better lives than ours
2. we love watching the mighty fall, so we sit back and wait to hear something negative about them
3. we're pathetic and shallow

I am so with you, just because I watch their movies doesn't mean I want their life story. What's pathetic is how they moan and complain about things that "normal" people would be laughed at for.

I don't know either, gotta admit, I'm obe\sessed with celebrities too. Maybe it's an epidemic once it strikes... It just happens coz the papparazzi and the media focus on them for publicity and since they focus on them, it happens to us.. Get it???

Because we live our lives through them. Many of us want to be like them, enjoy their sense of style, want to follow their style, etc.
