You will do more damage to your nails trying to pick off the polish than using remover. If you're concerned with damage you might want to try using remover that doesn't have acetone. it's more gentle than the regular kind

Scrape it off with a nail file or a cutter.

Very simple. Apply a coat of nail polish over your nails now and then wipe it off.

Have you tried apply another coat on top and wiping off with paper towel before it dries. Don't use cotton wool as the nail will get very messy!!!!
You may need to do this a couple of times before it come off completely.
Try doing it with clear varnish as this won't leave any colour on the nail.
It really does work, I do it all the time.

go swiming in the chlorine water and that sometimes gets the finger nail polish off but not always

sorry bud, nail polish is the only thing that takes it off, unless you have a random bottle of acetone at your house, the active ingredient in nail polish

use a nail file .. the only thing about this is it will leave marks on your nails for a little while..

u can use gasoline!!! seriously, that's what my dad used to use when he wanted to remove my nail polish. but i doubt you have gasoline on hand. unless you run to your car really quickly.
