Ok, im bored and already had this done about 3 yrs ago, but am getting opinions, best answer that I see fit will get the dimer points.

Ok, I bring my 2001 chevy silverado in cuz it just stopped and I knew it was a expensive fix. The knock sensor which is under the intake manifold went out, I also got the intake fuel pump fixed and an online fuel filter put on. All this I could do myself but am a painter in middle of summer (NO TIME).
Dealer wants about $1,100-1500.00 to fix, found local mechanic for $740.00. Im not mad about this but when I left after paying cash, I went to my shop went over the bill 3 days later cuz I was showing a buddy on how damned expensive it was.
Now I run pure synthetic oil in my truck and it takes 6.5 quarts at $9.50 a quart and a $6.00 oil filter.
My bill had a quart of oil $2.00 and washer fluid $2.00 neither of which I got the rest of. I just changed my oil 1500 miles ago, oil I run goes 35,000 miles and you change the filter every 5K.

ok, so adding the oil just corrupted the synthetic oil, as told by the 10 different mechanics i called and talked to.
I went back and asked if I had asked him to add the Qt of oil, he said no, I asked did i ask for the washer fluid he said no, I then said you dumb SOB you owe me $85.00 for the new oil change I need. After spending $750.00 no, go.
What would you do?

Intank fuel pump, which means you have to drop the gas tank and put in new pump.

ok, 1st kenneth, knock sensor, not the O'2 sensor, which is located exactly where you stated. And if you read the whole post I restated the in the tank fuel pump, and the inline fuel filter.
and 8up you cannot add regular oil to full synthetic oil, im not talking the crap you buy at walmart for $5 a QT. if you knew anything about it you'd know that premium synthetic oil cannot have regular oil added to it.
So far mickey G is the smartest here to date.

Amsoil, sucks, and why anyone buys that off the shelf walmart maker is beyond me.
That price includes the intake fuel pump, the inline filter, and dropping the gas tank to install, I don't know where you live but where I do mechanics charge $90.00-$125.00 an hr.
price of knock sensor $87.00
price of fuel pump $277.00
So the synthetic genius must have a genie who works at dealers where he lives.

If adding the oil was part of the repair, I say drop it. If it wasn't, I would raise nine kinds of hell until they changed it for me (although I might not trust them then).

If you did not request oil or washer fluid check/top off, then they had NO business messing with it, specifically not knowing what kind of oil you use.

For example, I completely debunk numerous common myths. Here's just a few of the more common questions I discuss (my book goes into specific facts and details for each of these subjects, plus many more ):

1. Black oil is dirty oil and must be changed: FALSE

2. Synthetic oil is not compatible with petroleum oil: FALSE

3. Once you change to synthetic you can never change back: FALSE

4. Synthetic motor oils damage seals and causes leaks: FALSE

5. You can only change to synthetic motor oil after "break-in": FALSE

6. Synthetic oil is too "slippery": FALSE

7. Using synthetic motor oil and not changing it according to your manufacturers recommendations will void your warranty: FALSE

Also didn't know Silverado took 7.5 qts. ??

Knock sensor, fuel pump, fuel filter. $1100--$1500--settled for $740. you really get ripped.
Synthetic and regular oil ok to mix.
Amsoil 10w40 synthetic high performance $82..80 case (12)$6.90 qt.

ok for one thing the knock sensor is not located under the intake...it screws in the side of the engine block. there is no such thing as the intake fuel pump.

I'll say that when you say online fuel filter you mean inline fuel filter.

this sounds like a story out of a fiction novel....knock sensor under the intake...intake fuel pump...no such animals so give me the points just for knowing that...as far as the oil thing you discussed...well...give me another point or a thumbs cause I don't believe you

The oil is fine. They make synthetic blend oil. What do you think that is made of? Synthetic oil and regular oil. The mechanics you talked to didnt know what they were talking about.

Who cares about "dimer points"? I wouldn't weed through your question for real money!
Sorry, bored.
