Like any other standardized test, the SAT is a measure of your knowledge of the SAT and anything that incidentally has the same/similar content to the SAT--some of your school work does converge with the SAT, and some does not. You must know the SAT to do well in the SAT. That's not just the case with the SAT. That is life. For instance, you must know music to recognize music. But a person who does not know music theory is no less intelligent than someone who knows music theory. Likewise, a person who scores low in the SAT (does not know the SAT well) is less intelligent than a person who scores high. Intelligence is general. SAT and music theory are content specific.

the SAT is not an accurate measure of ability because some people are just not good test-takers and that's what the SAT is about. you memorize a bunch of crazy words, you know the tips to solve math problems you probably wouldn't know how to solve and it's such a high-pressure test. for somebody who can get like 90s in all his classes and then get a fairly low SAT score-- it doesn't really measure his ability. he obviously can do well in class and learn stuff, but the SAT doesn't show that.

it is a good ability of measure... now-- you have to do a writing sample. so you can't really fake that.

Wrong question, you need to ask how can I make a good score on the SAT. Whether it's accurate/good/bad is totally irrelevant. As long as it's the determining criteria for admission then it's the only game in town.

Sat scores don't grade on aptitude and imagination and initiative. They grade on what you learned by rote.
