The answer Used to be easy-MAYTAG!!
Unfortunately Maytag doesn't build them like they used to, & because of that, they are now owned by Whirlpool.
Anyway, to answer your question- topload style- Whirlpool
Front load style- Whirlpool Duet.

Bosch for all white goods for me: I am on my second Bosch washing machine, have dishwasher and fridge freezer - all are excellent, I've had no problems and the prices for Bosch are more competitive than ever. Search on Kelkoo for products and prices for the best deal. Incidently: Hotpoint had a bad reputation many years ago, but that has long passed. Hotpoint are now made by Bosch.

I have a Whirlpool stackable washer/dryer set and love it. For a small household, it works great. It wouldn't be good for someone with huge amounts to wash. But for someone like me who does lots of small loads, it's perfect.
It doesn't take up much space and runs on ordinary 110 electric current. It's a godsend.

I would go with sears, I had a Kenmore for 20 year with a full family at home. during that time I had it fixed once,it was a dial at the top, nothing major. Sadly, I needed a new one, and went right back to Sears, because they stand behind there product.

i've owned a kenmore for over a year now and love it. very affordable and reliable.
my mom owns a bosch which she has had for under a year and absolutely loves it. she says the wash cycle is kind of long though. it's a higher end brand.

I just bought a Maytag earlier this year and I love it! I had a Kenmore before that and I hated it! Always had problems and it was rough on our clothes. My mom has a Kenmore to and doesn't like it. Please don't waste your money! Lowes has great prices on Maytags and Whirlpools! (My dryers a Whirlpool)
