i noticed that lots of my coworkers go out together on the friday night, but they NEVER ask me to join them. they are very friendly in the office, we all have been working together for about the same time, we joke around , laugh, they tease me, call me, i tease them, we have time when we are in teh office, but still they never ask me to hang out with them, eventhrough i know they all hang out together, and we are all at the same corporate level right now, what could be the reason?

Have you ever asked them if you could join them? You may not live close, or may not have shown enough interest in their nights out. There could be millions of reasons, but ask if they would mind if you joined them one time.

Well doing so is breaking professional bounderies but if you want to socialize with them, why don't you plan something and invite them to say a BBQ or something like that. It may just be an oversight on their part.

It may not have occured to them. This may sound silly but I have seen it happen. If you're very attractive and they are going to meet guys that might be the reason. They might think you are too much competition. I know that sounds silly but it happens.

If you're not white, that might be the reason. If you are, then maybe they just haven't noticed a lot of interest in you.

Tracy,

This may have something to do with your other question. Maybe they are afraid of what might get back to your friend from their nights out.

I wouldn't worry about it though, you don't need them, they obviously aren't real friends!

They might have things in common outside of the office -- age, marital status, kids, hobbies... Don't worry about it too much, but if you hear them making plans, just take one of them aside and ask if it's okay to tag along. What's the worst that can happen?

they really don't like you. They are simply being polite to in a office setting.

hmmm...maybe you could just tell them you'd like to hang out on Friday and see what they say. They probably don't know you are interested.
