You know that T is an even number because 2A = T or T+10
You also know that T + 0 = A or T + 1 = A.

We assume that every letter is for a different number so:

We eliminate T+0=A, then T+1 = A. T = A - 1
We have carry over to T, this means that 2A = T + 10.
Replace T by A - 1
2A = A - 1 + 10
A = 9
Then :
T = 8
89 + 9 = 98

voila.

Check your other posting.

If its Ta + A = AT (and it's A*T) then A could be 0 and T could be any number.

If its TA + A = AT and AT is a number less than 100 but greater than 9 then it's 8 and 9. 89+ 9 = 98.

89 + 9 = 98

Both A's have to be the same number. However, because the T changes to A at addition, it means that a one is carried over (ie A+A is more than 10). That means that A has to be one more than T, *and* A + A has to equal a number that ends in T. The only numbers that fit this are 8 for T and 9 for A.

t = 8, and a = 1. ta+a = (8*1) + 1 = 8 + 1 = 9

if ur numbers r of the form TA AND AT

u can safely write 10T+A+A=10A+T

9T=8A

as an example T=8 A=9

so the numbers TA AND AT are 89 and 98

2006-10-17 22:15:50 · answer #6 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

(10T + A) + A = (10A + T)
10T + 2A = 10A + T
9T = 8A
T/A = 8/9

T = 8 and A = 9 is the only possible pair, since T and A must be whole numbers, T is not zero and T and A are single digits.

Thus,
89
+9
___
98

the equation 10T + A + A = 10A + T, 9T = 8A

T = 8, A = 9
