Belfast, Ireland November 29, 1898
Just a little trivia to make my answer a little more original:
John F. Kennedy, Aldous Huxley, and C.S. Lewis all died on the same day on November 22, 1963.

I did not know he was born in Ireland....corollary: was he Irish? Or were his parents another nationality living in Ireland? I've heard him speak (on tape) and didn't think he sounded Irish...sounded more English.
