remember, 99 equals the number of BODY PARTS, not the number of animals.
Goat = 1 head, 4 feet which totals 5 body parts (5x)
duck = 1 head, 2 feet which totals 3 body parts (3x)
twice the number of ducks
99 = 2(3x) + 5x
99 = 6x + 5x or 11x
9 = x
goat = 9 goats at 5 body parts each - 45
duck = 18 ducks at 3 body parts each - 54
total of 99 body parts

there would be 18 ducks 18x3=54
there would be 9 goats 5x9=45 54+45=99
