I think it is a statement of human kindness and equality. It says to me that we should be focusing on our world and the preservation, peace and success of ALL the people of the world.

Eugene Debs.
I don't know much about him. He was a union organizer in the early 20th century and he ran for president once.
I googled him and found this other very interesting quote:
Your Honor, years ago I recognized my kinship with all living beings, and I made up my mind that I was not one bit better than the meanest on earth. I said then, and I say now, that while there is a lower class, I am in it, and while there is a criminal element I am of it, and while there is a soul in prison, I am not free.
I think both quotes say we as people are closely connected to each other and nature.

The person who said it is saying there is no difference in race or nationality in their eyes. They are a citizen of the world as are we all. There country is the earth which has no boundries, no borders, no gates. It basicly means is look around you dont see people by there colour or nationality see them as a human being as we all are. Live in peace

It means we don't own whatever country we land upon. Through the luck of my birth I ended up in a decent country. That doesn't mean I can lay claim to it.

I like it. We are all animals on this planet Earth which gives us life. We must respect each others right to life and freedom, no matter which country you're born/live in.
