I had to pay $97.00 for a round bale of coastal last week. I couldn't believe it. The square bales of coastal are $9.50 and a square bale of alfalfa is around $12.00. I live in Texas, close to Dallas. When will this ever end??

Wow never again will I complain about hay prices..............We mainly bale our own but run short at times and have to buy, last week paid $35 for a huge round bale of alfalfa hay. square bales here are running $2.50 for grass mix and $3 for alfalfa. Round bales are anywhere from $25 - $40 depending on what you get. By the way this is all in Southeast Missouri. Maybe try what some of the others have done and have it brought to you would probably be cheaper in the long run.

I also live outside of Dallas. I recently bought a round bale from a friend for $65 because they went to Arkansas and got 45 bales for that price. I also buy the bagged Alfalfa hay for $9.95. It's 40lbs. of shredded Alfalfa-just the good part of it. If we can pull out of this drought, prices should be better because hay will be easier to come by.

I pay $2.00 a bale for good Orchard grass hay. Alfalfa is about $4.00 a bale. Round bales are around $9.00. I live in West Virginia, and we are very lucky. There seems to be plenty of good hay to go around. Some friends of mine actually make a LOT of money by loading semis with hay and shipping them to places like Ft.Worth and Las Angeles.

Wow, Hay is high there, I thought that 4.00 a bale was bad here for a good grass mix (brome). I am paying about 20.00 for round bales. alafa is going for around 6.00 or so I think for the squares... Glad I don't live where you do, and we are still under a drought here so hay is tight as well...
