Ask her in a subtle way, or just to go for like lunch or coffee first.
How about, "If I DID ask you out, would you be inclined towards saying yea." or casually, I'm going 'whereever' on such and such day...you wanna come? like it's just an outing sorta thing... who knows maybe she likes you enough to go on an outing but doesn't want you 'in that way'... but first things first my man.

It is best to start off by talking to her some. If she is willing to just talk to you then manybe she is willing to meet you some place.

You said classes so I don't know if that means 12 years old or 22 years in law school. But if it is high school or before you should just talk first and see what it is that she does for fun and meet her there. That way you don't have to ask her out and still get a date in a way and you can find out if she is intrested or not first so you don't make your self the talk of the class. And the joke of the year for the guys in your class.

Hell yes it will be awkward! But who cares? I've asked out plenty of girls at my old schools and some say yes and some say no. I even asked this girl out on Valentine's Day and gave her a bear and flowers and chocolates, and she said HELL no (well not as mean). I got over it, and so can you if she says no. The risk is worth it, cause maybe you will find some one you really love, who knows?!
