It varies from state to state in the US. Some states require that you have no intimate contact for a year prior to the divorce. Some don't require anything like that.

Typically, the requirement is you have to wait until the order is posted into the court records, which may take 10-30 days.

However, you need to check the laws for your state. They could have a 6 month "cooling off" period. If you remarry too quickly, you could be charged with bigamy.

Once the divorce is final you shouldn't have to wait at all. Now perhaps in some states it takes 6 months to become final, I don't know. See what you can find on the internet. There should be some source for family law for your state.

I guess its different in many states but here in my state you can get married as soon as your divorce is final. If you haven't filed for divorce yet go to the court house and do that. I'm sure they can locate her some where and serve her the papers. Good luck.

You can get married as soon as you are legally divorced, but you have to get the divorce. So you'll need to get an investigator to find your ex so she can be served with divorce papers. Also, you need to legally terminate her parental rights to your child, so you don't have her coming around in 10 years trying to get custody. If she hasn't seen the child or paid support in over 2 years, you can terminate her parental rights.
