Well...okay, since you are asking this I will suppose that you are talking about the root decomposition of 360 and 180, rather than the fact that you couldn't find an online calculator for the decimal approximation. I basically mean that you are using the "factor tree" method, if your teacher has ever used that terminology. :)
Okay, so start by factoring 360.
360 = 180 * 2
Now factor 180, but still keep that 2 that you had before!
360 = 90 * 2 *2
Okay, now factor the 90
360 = 45 * 2 * 2 * 2 (see, I left the 2's I had from before)
Now factor 45
360 = 5 * 9 * 2 * 2 * 2
Okay now, I see that the 5 is a prime number (meaning that only itself and 1 can multiply to get it. 9 isn't because it has factors like 3 * 3)
360 = 5 * 3 * 3 * 2 * 2 * 2
Okay...now we have the prime factorization of 360. Now we will circle or take note of repeated numbers in groups of 2's. In other words the 5 is alone, so this doesn't count...it will be left inside the square root symbol, but there are 2 number 3's and there are 2 number 2's, and there will be one left over 2. So, the paired numbers "come out" of the square root sign and multiply to each other. Remember that once you have circled a pair of numbers, these numbers will no longer be inside the square root, and will appear only once outside. One 'disappears' if you will. I can explain that later if you ask. :)
sqrt (360)= 3 * 2 sqrt (5 * 2)
So...grand total answer is 6 sqrt 10! Tada! :)
You do 180 the same way, but the answer will be 6 sqrt 5

I will use sqrt to represent square root.
To find the sqrt of 360 and 180, you need to solve each separately. Search for two numbers. One of them must be a perfect square.
sqrt{360} = sqrt{36} times sqrt{10} = 6(sqrt{10})
Next:
sqrt{180} = sqrt{36} times sqrt{5} = 6(sqrt{5})
NOTE: In both samples, the square root of 36 is a perfect square because 6 x 6 = 36.
