Would I need to wax it again if it rains?

It's totally OK, and yes, you'll have to wax it again... eventually. Rain is one of the many reasons you wax a car in the first place. Wax seals the surface of the paint and prevents water and other things like sap, tar, airborne chemicals, bird crap, insects, and all manner of other substances from actually penetrating the surface of the paint and damaging it. It also protects the paint to some degree from the sun's rays, which can cause it to fade or deteriorate. Wax is a "sacrificial coating". It eventually comes off due to rain, car washes, and exposure to the elements. Many car waxes have a mild abrasive in them that helps remove the old wax, oxidized paint, water spots, road film, and other impurities, and at the same time it re-seals and protects the paint. The more your car sits in the rain and sun, and the more times you wash it, the more frequently you'll have to wax it. Get yourself one of those orbital polishers and some good liquid cleaner/wax and have at it. Every two or three months is what I do.
