You need to plot the beging which is when the problem is. Tthe middle which is where they decide how to solve the problem in the story and the climax/end of it which is usually when the problem is solved. It is pretty simple. He just needs to have read and understood the problem.

Sadly, I'll bet the teacher gave directions and your child was not paying attention. He says she didn't, but kids learn in the 4th grade how to do plot lines, so he really should know. Anyway.... you figure out what the story is about and you plot the course of the story. First this happens, then this happens, etc. until the end where it Ends. Example: The Three Bears.
Cinderella walks in the Woods/Cinderella finds the Bears' House/ Cinderella goes in and tries the chairs in the living room/ She tries the poridge in the kitchen/she tries their beds/ she is chased out by the Bears'return.

The teacher is asking you to describe the main events in the story. The line should include the exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and the resolution. For details on each see the link below. Good luck!

Think of the biggest, most dramatic thing that happens in the book, the event that the first of the book leads to. This is the very top of the line. The events leading up to it is before it and the conclusion, is after it. the line should be kind of like a mountain.

Just make a like-timeline but make it instead of the times of the events make the time of plots in the story. I'm very sorry if i'm confusing you. In Him,
