To form a hypothesis is to write a declarative sentence that is your own prediction of the outcome of the experiment.

e.g. "Is water pressure greatest at the top, middle, or bottom?"
I believe water pressure is greatest at the bottom...

To test your hypothesis is to perform an experiment. Poke 3 holes in an empty milk carton and put a strip of tape over all of the holes. Fill the carton with water and rip off the tape! The hole from which water spews out the furthest is where water pressure is the greatest.

A hypothesis is an educated guess based on observation. Take plants for instance, you see that with more fertilizer, they grow more. With no fertilizer, they won't grow as much. That is the hypothesis. Testing the hypothesis is done with an experiment or procedure, consisting of steps that should be done to see if the hypothesis you made is true. For an experiment, you could take one plant, and let it grow without fertilizer, and then take the other plant and let it grow with the fertilizer, and record the height of the plants after a few days.

first u ask a question

then u come up with a possible explaination to the question

Use what you know about caffeine to form your hypothesis:
"Caffeine can help one lose weight." or
"Caffeine makes one nervous." or
"Caffeine is addictive."
Test the hypothesis by administering a blind taste test with Coke and caffeine free Coke. or
Write about how you disallowed yourself caffeine for a period of time and document how you felt. or
Research (via the internet) diet pills and their effectiveness and the prescence of caffeine as an ingredient.

Come up with a hypothosis like: If........... then.............
It is something like an educated guess.
Test it with an experiment that has to do with the hypothosis to see if its true
