In all honesty, I do believe that racism started with white people, but all white people aren't racist.

While the term 'racism' has only been used in more modern times, initially applying to the then more frequent form of racism that was exhibited mostly by whites toward non-whites, the idea behind 'racism' is ancient. There is written records of even the most ancient cultures exhibiting 'racist' sentiments toward people that weren't a part of their society. It hasn't been until this post-Darwin age that people began looking at these 'racial' conflicts in a more genetic manner. In other words, the idea of race itself only came about after we came up with the idea of evolution. That doesn't mean that prior to that we were all one big happy family and everyone thought everyone else was just peachy.

Frankly, I'm a little tired of people blaming all of humanity's problems on white people. Every society and culture that has ever existed has displayed the same cruelty, violence, selfishness, pride, and 'racism' that white people have.

One does not "start" racism. Racism is a projection of inferiority onto a group of people. It occurs in every race, all over the world. Sadly it is a human condition, not a white condition. The Arabs are killing ethnically black Africans in the Sudan. Is that racism? No, it is hatred pure and simple.

As humans, all have a desire to feel like they are better than at least someone else. You know you do, we all do.

Now this is an interesting thought provoking question...And I believe you are right. When the Europeans first came to the USA they sat in judgment of the American Indian and called them heathens. And so it starts. If you look at the history of the USA you can see how we suffer for the narrow-mined, judgmental, usually "Christian" beliefs. We forget so easily that a large part of the south was a peanol colony....that tabacco was our first cash crop...and that there was a tea party in Boston about taxation without representation (can you figure out how they manage to tax a gallon of gas 10 times? Or a pack of cigarettes?)

Isn't it funny how over two hundred years later we still sit in judgment when we should all be more understanding, accepting and tolerant. I mean really does it matter what you ware? Where you practice your beliefs? What your beliefs are? Who you sleep with in the privacy of your own home? Who you are commited to? Does it matter if you are fat? If you smoke? If you are African-American or Europen American or American Indian? (white is a color not a race!)

I feel that if you live your life following the law of the land, respect others right to be and do and live, are honest and trustworthy, and try to be a good person all the rest is your own business and I say we should live and let live. It is way past time for us to all move past the "black, red, and white" issues of the past.

It is sad how American minds think that the world problems focus on just black and white people. Hate has been around since the beginning of time. It isnt just a color thing nor did it happen just 200+ years ago when the Pilgrims landed in the future USA and had to go head to head with the Native Americans. Wake up, luv! You are only looking at surface/shallow details.

I'm quite irked that you used the term "we" in your question. White people in the PAST could have possibly started racism (in the USA at least), but people today shouldn't be blamed for the actions of a bunch of long dead bigots.

No matter where you go, or who you are, there will always be someone hating someone else because of faith, gender, color or just because they can. Remember that Egyptians hated Jews. Jews hate Palestinians, Blacks seem to be the most discriminated against in history. Bigotry is a cop out for people who just don't want to try and get along. It's called control and fear. There has always been someone who finds it easier to stomp on than accept.

That's like saying "did asian people start positivity?" racism is a viewpoint and did not "start" from a certain race.
