My boyfriend and i are going on a much needed vacation in April 2007 to Negril, Jamaica. Is there anything we should see / skip? We are not interested in "partying" since we are in our mid to late 20s. I was also wondering if i should bring our lap top because i take a LOT of pictures and would need somewhere to dump the pictures. Is it better to invest in a 8 GB card?

Negril is a beautiful place to visit. Make sure the trip is not around Easter Weekend or Spring Break. If it is then you can expect a lot of parties going on. If not then the area shouldn't be too busy. just sit by the pool and enjoy each other. You should check with the front desk about the tours they have.
Try going to Rick's Cafe and watch the sunset, really romantic. Margaritaville is nice too. the beach there is lovely.

You are in paradise. Enjoy it and make the most of it.

It might be best just to get the 8GB card or bigger (you never know). You are on vacation don't need to be lugging around a laptop.

Just be smart like you would be anywhere else. Go on hotel recommended tours and ENJOY JAMAICA!!!!

Superclubs has a thing where you can visit other properties within their chain. So you can try doing that because each hotel has a different theme.

It's better to have your lap top and see the pictures of the day in your room but a 8gb card is okay. I' ve been in Negril this summer. It's a resort and tourist area with reggae shows at night at Alfred's, Bourbon Beach. The best part of Negril is the beach, 11 miles of sand and palm trees and the West End Road, an area with riffs and where you can see the sunset on Rick's Cafe among other tourists.
The problem in Negril is hassle when you hang around but it's not dangerous. There are much more quieter places in Jamaica (Port Antonio, Treasure Beach) but Negril is fun if you like to meet other tourists.

get the card, leave lap top home !!!! If you like a little adventure try going up to mayfield falls you walk up the river right to the falls. It is a fun thing to do with other couples plus you can split the cab fare it is spendy. while you are up there have your cab driver take you though bamboo alley it's pretty neat. you also get to go through the mountains and see how most of the people live, markets, ect. lighthouse is pretty neat, Rick's is ok but expensive and loud, good place to here some reggae. go to www.beingee's internet Negril and you can get lot's of info on just about everything. been there twice and am going again in Feb. Have a great trip !!!

P.

s. Don't be afraid to get out of the hotel and do a little exploring !!!

My sister went to Negril years ago with her friends. I believe the sightseeing is optional, there can be a lot of things to do.. Maybe do the sightseeing with other couples if they are interested to do so with you. You can bring a laptop, but be careful, you don't want it stolen, so keep an eye. You could dump pictures on the laptop, I'm not sure about investing in an 8 GB card, but you can always delete whatever's on the camera, after dumping, but make sure the pictures are on the laptop first, or you could even upload to your email to be safe.

There are various tours, sights, beaches, rivers, shops etc to see in Negril. Your hotel will provide information on some of them while others you can ask the locals about.

I think it would be best to buy a 8gb card for your cam and not be weighed down by a bulky notebook :)

Where are you staying? Because depending this will determine if there is really "partying" available to you.
