my parents think that belly dancing is bad. i've never done it in a class before but i've practiced in my room. i think that it's really hot and my sister says it's a good workout. what do ya'll think?

Look, my name is Galina. I live in Moscow and have been learning belly dance for 2 years now. It's a real craze here in Moscow. Oriental dance is amazing, it is beautiful, it gives you an opportunity to feel a beautiful girl, it gives you not only pleasure but a lot of energy as well. Besides, it is very useful for woman's health and appearance. But I am sure, to dancing well you should take some classes anyway. It is difficult to study belly dance by your own. It's a very ancient and beautiful dance. Your parents may not understand this. It's a true art and a beauty by itself! Good luck to you!

A very close friend of mine form work took up belly dancing some years ago and her father wanted to kill her. But she persevered because it was something she really wanted to do and all of us at work respected her for it. I actually used to drive her to various restaurants to perform because there were occasions when she didn't have a car.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with belly dancing. It accentuates the inner beauty of women and there is nothing within this art that anybody would be ashamed of.

I went to a belly dance class and I loved it. I'm 34 and was the youngest person there. There was one lady that was in her 60's. It's great for you body and self-esteem. Maybe you could locate a class and ask you mother to go with you. I does wonders for bonding with you mother, too. I brought my 10 year old daughter with me. Now, if you were learning strip tease dances, them I'd be worried.

My daughter has expressed an interest in this too (13) and it is good exercise for the abdomin.
Suggest classes in the art if you want to learn more but would highly recommend your parents approval first. At least until you are of age. They really are looking out for your best interests! Trust in them first as they are your family and love you more than you can know!

it is bad only if u work as a belly dancer and wear those semi-naked suite.
its a very nice type of dancing, it shapes the body pretty well, makes u have a nice waist and hips, also good as a workout.

I have found belly dancing to be good excercise. Its fun to do in a class or by yourself. Since I'm fond of most forms of dance, I am obviously fond of Bellydance as well. So..that is what I think. What do you think?

It is great entertainment to see a Beautiful Young Bellydancer in Traditional Costume dance to Oriental Music. There should be more of it.

It is similar to modern dance in that isolation movements are all-important. It is quite a challenge to create a pattern with your feet, your hips are moving in a circular motion while your shoulders are shimmying; your arms are doing something else and you have the finger cymbals tapping away. And all the time you are smiling!

It is a good work-out. If you ever go to Epcot in Walt Disney World eat at the Marakesh. You'll know why when you go. It is not bad. But don't openly defy your parents. They can make your life miserable.
