When you are a teenager, it is normal to sleep a lot. Not only are you still growing, but your body is going through many changes. You probably need 12 hours of sleep. Some people need more sleep than others. However, sleeping too much can be a sign of depression. Do a reality check on yourself, and make sure this is not your problem. Mood swings, however, are also normal during adolescence. As far as dying younger from too much sleep, this has been a new research theory during the past year. As you age, generally (because everyone is different) you need less sleep. This new theory (and it's only a theory) is that amongst the elderly, people who sleep too much may die younger. Not to worry for you; you are not in that age group. Listen to your body, and you will be fine.

I dunno about the die early thing, but I do know if you sleep too much you will be more tired when you wake up. I know, imma college student and i work so I usually get to bed around 1 in the am and have to be up around 7:30. One day I woke up at like 10 because I didnt have class and I was exhausted even tho I got more sleep. You rbody will adjust to your sleeping habits, like me, I run fine off about 6-7 hours of sleep.

You won't die any sooner.
Over sleeping can actually make you more tired though.
But you are young, and teenagers need more sleep then any other age. I wouldn't say it's abnormal that you sleep so much.
It could also be a medical problem. Next time you go to the doctor, I'd mention it to him/her and see if they think it's an issue.

No way if anything youll die older cuz your body is getting more energy. But what you should watch out for is the fact that when you sleep and spend time in the bed alot it makes you physicly weak and sloth like.

i dont know about dying younger but.... you certainly need to be more active. at times your body needs more rest, like if your sick or on your period, and when you over sleep when you arent having these problems your body thinks something is wrong. Sleeping more can actually make you more tired than if you sleep regularly.....Also most growth and weight gain happens during sleep so your size could begin to rapidly increase due to your irregular habits.

you may not necessarily die younger just because you sleep alot but it may be a signal of another problem. your body clock should wake you automatically when you have had enough sleep. if yours isn't working then you to have a physical and see what is causing you to have insatiable sleep.
