It's very hard for the earth to "leave things behind" due to the great gravitational force of the earth on all objects, and things like rockets are too small to see with teh naked eye anyhow.

The only things that escape are minor amounts of gases, and space probes.

because they're too far away from us. We're too small. An example that you can see an object pass by Earth is a commet, asteriods...
