Cultivation can be done only by us since it is our land. Foreign trade is a two way possibility, and can even be outsourced , offshore.... !

Suppose you want to cultivate land to grow grapes here in America rather than importing them from Chile. First, you will need a bank loan to buy land and operate the farm. You will need to purchase seed, fertilizer and machinery to grow and harvest the crop. You will need to hire workers to pick the crop and trucks to carry the crop to the factory or winery or whatever. All of this creates an exchange of money between hands and stimulates the local economy, contributes to jobs and of course, you will need to pay interest on the loan and taxes. So that helps out the bank and our government.

So you see that in cultivating the land ourselves, we do ourselves a big favor since it's a community effort in the end. Money is generated and exchanges hands and it stays in America.

Paul has a tendency to write in flowery speech and images. This makes him hard to understand at times. The cultivated land is faith and the Word in our hearts. See the other poster's Scripture about the Word. Paul often refers to "God's building" or the "temple of the Holy Spirit." Back in those days, Jews and Gentiles were separate. They had a cultural taboo against associating with each other. When Jesus came, he changed all that. He united Jews and Gentiles into one, ending the differences among them. A building consists of many bricks and parts all cemented together, indicating unity in belief and purpose. The Bible calls Jesus "the chief cornerstone." The cornerstone is what holds the whole building together. If you read this in context and go back a few paragraphs, Paul is scolding the Corinthians for being divided. One says he is of Paul, another of Apollo. Did Paul die for you? He admonishes them to cling to Christ and be unified into one group. A group can only work together and help each other if they have the same goals, beliefs, etc. There are many denominations out there, but all Christians have the same beliefs: man sinned and can't save himself, Christ came to save us from our sins, he died, rose from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will come again. These are the basic principles that unite all Christians.

i'd like to know this as well considering i think it is much more important to negotiate with foreign trade than to continuously exploit the one resource we cannot replace.
