Well if you dont have a choice I would go with Mcafee but if you can go with a totally different brand all together I would. I will explain why... Norton and Mcafee are two of the most famous anti-virus software company's in the world, so if you were a hacker or someone who created viruse's then you would probably make a virus that could disable norton's or Mcafee because a larger percentage of people are going to have these programs on there computer so there fore there will be a large distruction rate.

ok ive found lazy people like mcafee since its easier and doent require much from you but norton is more effective if you pay attention to the pop ups the do get less frequent as you use it. norton is also pretty good at coming up with detailed help at getting any infections off of your computer if it does fail. hey nothings perfect and if you download a lot of quetionable files it will happen now the price can be free if you shop around and use the rebates tehy always offer. the free ones are best for a back up. i d definetly recomend spy sweeper as a secondary program its spyware but it also can keep unwanted files from starting up

McAfee of course. There are a lot of virus out there that are written to hide in Norton Antivirus software. Norton of course is not going to right a program to delete one of there own files...Therefore it stays hidden...

Both are excellent companies with excellent products. I suggest you read the following article:
"What Slows Windows Down?" -- written by pcspy.com
(http://www.thepcspy.com/articles/other/what_slows_windows_down/3)
Some computer guru took the time to conduct an informal test on how different software affected the performance of the computer - by performance I mean speed. Various softwares can slow down a computer with some more than others. Though speed is not the only thing to keep in mind when deciding on a software program(S), it is a very important factor.

Norton for the simple reason that it is fairly simple and does not take a lot of space on your hard drive. To make sure, try to insatll both aof them and go to Add/and remove program to see the actual size of each of them. On top of that you have a better service form Norton, they help you remove virus in case you catch one.....
Good Luck

Both are expensive fat. The term "bloatware" is often used to describe these packages. If you feel that you MUST pay for an anti-virus, NOD32 is considered to be one of the best

I have been using the free version of Grisoft's AVG for over 5 years now and have never seen a virus. Yes, it's free.
