There's also student government, prom and homecoming committees, drama clubs, choir, and art type things. You can also consider non-school things like dancing or getting into gymnastics. Chances are if you have an interest, like fashion, gardening, books, or whatever, there are other people who have the same interests that you can get with.

Try starting a club for people with your same interests.
You can even try organizing outings to interesting places in your area.
In school I started a club called the blue shirt society (Lame name I know but hey it worked) We would take turns picking a place we would like to go. Everyone helped organize the trip and on Thursday (or Friday) we all went (wearing a blue shirt).
On Monday we would meet to discuss ideas for a good location and choose tasks for the group, Tuesday and Wednesday short progress meetings then the trip. The idea worked well enough that some of us became real good friends and hung out on the weekends too.

I agree with the rat looking icon. You can play chess and do the band club thing or you can take a chance and open up your mind to things that you don't think you'd like. How about biking, hiking, fishing? Try the sports that everyone loves. Who doesn't love to fish. If you get a big group together to go out to the lake to go fishing, you get a bonfire and some awesome memories. I hope you try.
