I have had frequent uti's and even though I don't have a urinary tract infection when I do a urine test at my dr. nearly every few days on average I have frequency and burning AFTER I pee and it feels like I still have to go but I just emptied my bladder. Could I have an over active bladder? The burning is extremely annoying and really wearing me thin. Please help has anyone else experienced this if so what was wrong or did anything help?

I'm a RN who has taught Nursing for over 25 years and after reading some of the previous answers to this question decided to share my professional advice. First of all the frequency and urgency of needing to urinate are signs of bladder infection. A culture and sensitivity test of your urine needs to be done to determine the specific organisms that are creating these problems. Only the specific antibiotic related to the kind of organisms grown on the petri dish can combat the infection adequately. In the meantime it is essential that you drink atleast one gallon of fluids (preferably water) each day, cranberry juice will also help to reduce the growth of bacteria on your bladder lining, and vasaline applied around your urethra will stop any burning after voiding urine. Of course the answer to the problem involves treating the cause of the problem rather than the symptoms. Yes, this is a very common problem experienced by women. The two most common causes of the urinary tract infection are due to intercourse and improper wiping of the vaginal/anal area after bowel movements. Always wipe from the front to the back after bowel movements and wash the vaginal area with soap and water before and after intercourse again cleansing from the inside out and from the front/top to the back/bottom. If your symptoms persist perhaps you could go to your gynecologist for a second opinion. Good luck to you. In addition I think you should also have your doctor rule out a yeast infection which may be the source of your problem.

Could be you don't have an infection but an irritation in your bladder or urethra. If your doctor just gave you a urine test for infection and didn't check it out further, he either doesn't understand the discomfort it's causing you or he's just a bad doctor. If you can, check with a different doctor. If there's a woman's clinic, they might be able to help you identify and treat it.

Frequent urination and burning after you pee can also be a sign of a vaginal infection or std, just about all of which are easily curable with meds. You should make sure your doctor is also checking you for these things.

Drink! Drink! Drink! Just drink lots and lots of water or cranberry juice. Maybe the infection isn't bad enough to show up on the test, but you still have one. Drinking a lot of fluids will flush out your kidneys and bladder. I hope this helps.

I think you should clean the area out well, check for inflammation (like with a mirror), and continue to clean (don't use a douche- just water and a little soap)... if after a few days there's still a problem, then go see a doctor! Good luck!
