In relation to their performance, athletes are overpaid -- but that money is coming from the millions of viewers in the TV audience.
So those huge athlete salaries represent capitalism in the age of mass television audiences; I think we're stuck with this situation.

Yes and no, they make tons more than any other professional. But they put a lot of wear and tear on their bodies. So they aren't able to work as long, so they need to make enough money for an early retirement... I'm not saying it's right , but it's just a different side to the story.

I am a professional surfer. I made under $40,000 last year. I live in Hawaii where gasoline costs $3.00 a gallon easy. My rent is ridiculous because I live in a shoebox that looks at a mountain. Am I overpaid? No. But am I happy? YES. :)

Is the sun yellow? When teachers, policemen, firefighters, nurses, and others who perform important services within our community are actually paid what they are really worth, then I'll reconsider whether or not athletes ( also movie actors) are highly overpaid.

yes. A doctor who finds the cure for cancer will not make as much as some clown playing baseball for one season. But hey, it's because we buy the tickets, watch the games, buy the t-shirts. The players get paid what the market will bear.

I do feel so. I feel that the 22.5 million per year that goes to these athletes could go to teachers who actually makes a difference in the world.

Yesterday i said to my fiance wouldn't you want to play basket ball for a living. Get paid for having fun. He said no because it isn't fun anymore. Crazy practices, leaving your family all the time, but then he said \yeah he'd play for one season and reitre.
Ben wallace made like 10 mil and went ot a different team for like three more mil. That is crazy. Like 10 mil isn't enough.
They are way over paid.
What makes them think they should get paid that much?
DOn't you thin kwith that money we oculd cure cancer.

i do think some athletes are overpaid. Because while they get in the millions some people only get in the thousands.
