You've got a very broad question so you'll have to do the research because if you're speaking of North American indians, there are hundreds of tribes. For instance, the northern Paiutes were made up of several bands that were named after their primary foodsources...one band subsisted primarily on ground squirrels and are named that in their language, another on snakes. In the northwest Puget Sound area the Hiada tribe subsisted on salmon.
Get the idea? All the tribes had different foods they preferred. So you have to decide what area of the country or what tribes you are going to research...otherwise, your paper will be hundreds of pages long.

I agree with Cammie. Do your own homework. If you had taken the time to Google the subject Indians instead of asking your question here. You could have completed your homework.
If you needed to ask about where to find specific information suchas: Oral Traditions in Native American Tribes I would be more than willing to help you out, but to research your paper and write it....Not a chance.
