He tears his apartment to shreds and finally, not finding the bug, even breaks open his Virgin Mary statuette.

Then the former director's assistant calls up him and plays back the sax rifts he was squawking out. The man tells Caul that they will be listening.

The movie is really drab and a pain in the butt to get into, but if you force yourself to watch it, you will finally get really caught up in the thing, and maybe even enjoy the many ironies.

This may be one of Harrison Ford's earliest roles (not a very big one, nor is Robert Duval's).

As this seems to be for class, listen to Walter Murch's commentary, it is very enlightening.
