It's not so much overrated as it is trivilized in society, especially through the media and advertising. On the one-to-one level, it's overrated depending on the person you're with--amount of intimacy shared, techniques, talent and control. Sometimes it can be great if you're with the right person, otherwise you're better off watching an old Doris Day/Cary Grant movie!

Sex isn't over rated. Either you're not doing it right or not experimenting enough. I'm not saying you need to find a swingers club, but missionary every night will eventually kill you. I don't think we're building a society over it, especially when it's nearly illegal to discuss it or show even brief nudity on TV, but ER can get away with showing someones insides every other week. Do yourself a favor and buy a copy of the Kama Sutra. You and your significant other will thank me later.
God Bless that lady's Twins.

I think there are so many arguments, wars, lawsuits, etc. these days that sex is the only thing you know you will have in common with another human being. It's almost a "safe" topic. Not that I want to see it all the time - I just understand why people resort to it as a connection point with other people.

Your not the only one that's asked this question ME. Yes sex to me is just ok and its not the best thing in the world. Im happy being single and I dont go out to have sex in fact I just buy hot parts for my cars and visit with my kid. Im happy maybe there is something wrong with me because guys are supposed to be horney all the time.

I agree. Sometimes all the work just to get everything going fails to make it worthwhile, I'm afraid. But when to satisfy yourself, it is much easier. Proof we were meant to do that, I suppose!
Still, if it's right, then it is nice. Must take the crunchy with the smooth, I suppose.

What amazes me is that the media encourages our young women to become sexual beings as if we have no other purpose. Violence is pushed towards the young men and the girls are told being sexy will make them important. We wonder why Rape is up and teen pregnancy. Stop watching music videos. Research the products you buy to see who is promoting them. Remind the girls in your life that brains not skin is what makes you important.

It depends on your point of view...
For females it is mostly just a luxury and/or a means to an end... and for some a source of frustration and/or harassment...
For males... you have no idea... we are driven... consumed... a continual distraction... going without it is eventually torture, period.
you want to know what it is like for a male... try going without talking or eating and see how important little things like conversation and food can be.
But AFTER SEX... we feel just like you do... only... a little more tired
