If it's been refridgerated, it smells a bit metalic, and a bit sour.

If it's been at room temp, but enclosed in an air tight container to prevent it from drying, it smells like rotted meat, and it will have released gases that will turn your stomach. It actually sounds like opening a soda can when you open it, with all the gases escaping.

It smells like copper if it isn't to old and dried up.

it shhhmelllz like NOTHING. there is no smell to old blood, that is if it is on a suface, not in a bag or something.
