At various times John Lennon expressed a lot of support for feminist ideals, esp. after he met Yoko Ono. He often tied his life as a househusband late in his life in NYC to feminist ideas about breaking down sex roles.
He wrote a song that was a real feminist anthem , but the full title will be censored here: "Woman is the N----- of the World." Give it a listen, and you'll certainly think him a feminist.
(You can also find much in his life and statements he made that fall short of full respect fro women, esp. early in his life.)

I can't tell you of any books that state that, but I think he did kind of become a feminist. He recorded the song, 'Woman is the ****** of the World', which obviously meant women were treated as second-class citizens for far too long. He actually admitted in an interview (sorry, don't know the source) that he was once quite violent in his youth towards women, but obviously he'd come to see the light.
Sorry, the song title has a word that is offensive to black people, but is meant to draw parallels to black and female suffering throughout history. That's what you see in asterisks above.
I hope you have better responses to your Lennon question than I did! Mine was political, of course, but there were some nasty comments, unfortunately.
Good luck in your search.

John was many things, most wonderful, including a philosopher, artist, creator of songs, etc.
If he had any inclination toward feminism, I suggest it was certainly out of respect but also largely influenced by YOKO,,, Sigh.
