Hi Tyler. I would advise that you talk to a trusted adult first, before you talk to your parents. Is there a counselor or teacher you'd feel comfortable confiding in whom you know is gay-affirming? Do you have any adult relatives or family friends who are gay or lesbian? It is important to have a support network that helps you feel connected and good about who you are. Definitely talk to a counselor about feeling depressed and lonely, and then if you trust him or her, you could talk about being gay. I think it is important to come out to people who are likely to be supportive first, so that you can feel more comfortable and secure. When you have more people to talk to about it, they can help you decide when the right time will be to come out to your parents.
I know it's difficult and lonely when you are first dealing with coming out. Things will get better! There are a lot of good people out there, both gay and straight, who will love you as you are. Good luck!

You should feel appreciated by your parents. When you feel that they will love you no matter what your sexual preference is thats when you should tell them.Parents should be by your side through thick and thin. They should appreciate the fact that your have your own mind and you want to live as your ideal self.Being lonely and depressed will only build more problems so you should rise up and overcome your fear.Be proud and let them know where your stand in life.Im straight but i have a lot of male friends that are proud to be gay and talk about it in public. You shouldn't care what others think and if you lose your friends because of it,it could be a risk you have to take because at least you know where ya'll friendship stood while you were friends. But when all said and done you will be suprised how many will be by your side.Good luck!!!

I would strongly suggest you do it now if you think that you're parents are open-minded enough. You can also join GSA at school if there is one... get to know others who are in your position or support your orientation (LIKE ME!! ^^ Maybe a little too much... I LOOOVE hot gay guys. lol). And if they're really your best friends as you claim, I think there's at least one of them you can confide in. However, this should all be on your own time. Some people have never even told their parents, which I find very depressing, but that's just the way some people work. I do hope you can come out of the closet soon, though! Because it's very liberating. Hell, all my friends know I'm omnisexual and love watching hot gay guys. In fact, they share my interests! Hehe... OH! And don't you dare listen to Christian crackpots! I forbid you to be brain-washed by those bunch of hypocritical, shellfish-loving numbnuts!!!

If you think your parents would not be very supportive, it may be best to wait until you are out on your own.
Do you have a gay-straight alliance at your school? You should join if you do, you could at least have someone to talk to about it.
Another thing you could do is get a feel for how your parents feel about homosexuality by bringing up the subject casually. Like say you know someone in school is gay, (or something to that effect) and see how they react.

Only you can predict how your parents will react. If they will be disappointed, that's normal, tell them soon. If they might over react and throw you out of the house, or send you to military school or something really bizarre, wait till you're 18 at least.
You will be happy in your life, believe me. This is a minor set back that all gays must face before they can become the strong men and women they are meant to be.
Good luck

The time that you should tell your parents let alone any person in your life is when you feel ready enough to let anyone know this information about yourself. If you feel you are not ready yet, maybe its not the right time don't push yourself and feel depressed when the right time comes you will be able to tell your parents how you feel.

As soon as possible. Get it out in the open. It is going to be hard, but waiting is only going to make things harder to deal with. You will feel so much better after letting it out.

Three cheers for you! It doesn't matter when you tell your parents, the most important thing is that you're true to yourself.
And by the way, parents know their children and will stay in denial until that child admits what is going on. Good luck and thank you for being good to yourself.

As soon as you know.
What's the line from that movie...
Mom & Dad, I have a brain tumor. I have 6 months to live. Just kidding, I'm gay!
No, you may give them a coronary.
