The kickdown linkage is designed to push the kickdown lever on the transmission towards the rear of the car. I believe the stock kickdown linkage has the rod move downwards at full throttle.

As for what to do about getting a replacement: You have several options. You can scour the classifieds at Mopar enthusiats sites looking for someone offering a set for sale. You can put on a Lokar cable based kit if you do not care about original looks but want a good, functional, affordable kickdown setup. Or if you want a restoration-correct kickdown linkage and must have it now, you can buy a new setup from Year One:

You have a fun one here!
Someone already said that the horizontal rod (attaches to carb linkage) should push the rod to the rear.

On the back of the intake there is a funky pivoting bracket that should push that vertical rod DOWN to another pivot (which, if I recall correctly, pivots on a shaft or rod which protrudes from the drivers side, front, of your tranny and has a bracket that mounts to the body/frame rail).

From there the pivot should push the third (horizontal dogleg shaped) rod towards the REAR of the car applying pressure to the kickdown lever on the transmission.

I know that parts for these can be found on eBay and at Year One. Another reliable source is Tony's Mopars. And possibly Paddock.
