Oh, you poor people.....your ignorance is hanging out all over the place!! You can bet 100% of the time that people who knock MLM or any other profession, have been burnt by it. Plain and simple. You got into the wrong company, or your timing was wrong, or you got your start-up kit, put it in the closet, watched the dust collect on it, and wondered why you never earned an income. You probably called Uncle Joe and Cousin Bubba, offered them your amazing new candle or something similar, they laughed at you and now you spend all your time on Yahoo Answers knocking everyone who even considers MLM.
Do your homework people!! Everyone has been burnt by one job or another in their life and they don't sit in front of their computers now and slam everyone else who works the same job! I'm getting sooooo tired of these little minds who spew all this garbage about MLM and just make my job harder because now I not only have to market my product, but I have to convince the masses that MLM is respectable, legitimate and VERY lucrative if you're willing to actually be a marketer and do what it takes to get the job done. If you're lazy or have limited brain capacities, then MLM is not for you. But if you are willing to learn and do the work, you can earn far more than ANY conventional job. You just have to pay attention and have an open mind.
I really pity the person who sponsored old Marcello into their program......must have been quite a trip!

HAHA...great question! Very amusing, and yes, very true. Sadly, the only thing you can do is have pity, as most MLMers only ever come to their senses after countless years of failure. MLM will suck the entrepreneurial spirit out of even the best of people.
Russ36 gives the classic MLM response. MLMers always assume anyone who isn't in MLM is poor...as though you could not possibly be doing well since you call out MLM for what it is.
The classic MLMer also assumes that anyone who speaks poorly of the flaws of MLM must be bitter because they failed in MLM and didn't have what it took to succeed. This of course is a pure smokescreen since they cannot refute any logical reasoning. You won't ever find an MLMer actually taking up the points of the flaws of the MLM, they merely resort to assumptions about those people making clear points. Just wait, someone will come in here calling me names, saying I am ignorant, claiming I am bitter, yet will pass right by any opportunity to actually debate on the issues. Happens every time, you can bank on it.
Plain and simple, either an MLM company promotes selling enough personal volume to make a living, making it actually a sales company, or they promote recruiting others to make money, making it fundamentally flawed (do the math MLMers, no matrix can grow beyond 30 levels) and a ponzi.

Mexico4me...if your so tired of defending your industry, quit SPAMMING everyone who posts a question in the business section. You don't like the fact that the general public doesn't respect MLM, then do something different.
People are quick to talk about the ridiculousness of MLM in the hopes they they will spare the young of this disease. We all know based on your thousands of spamming answers that you are deeply hooked into it in the most cultish of fashions and might be a lost cause, but the bulk of people reading yahoo questions read over the answers on MLM and see the truth, and that bugs you so much because you need them to be deceived so that you can make money recruiting. If you truly were in a position that was backed by sales, then you would not care what others think since you could prove it by example. Obviously that is not the case.
I enjoy that you say "willing to actually be a marketer" as though you are actually selling enough product to make a living. You can make all the false claims in the world, but we all know you are not selling enough little bottles of goji juice to support a real income. We all know that you need to make money sponsoring others to make nearly any money at all. How priceless is it that you consider spamming on yahoo questions a form of marketing. Of course, spam and MLM go well together as neither gets any respect.

People in MLM are the lowest of the low. They call everyone names and never stop for a second to look around and ask why their industry gets no respect.
The fact is that they have to constantly defend MLM because its the equivalent of the witch doctors of the 1800's. They go around preaching knowledge on subjects they have no background in, and claim business savvy on a future of riches they are convinced will one day arrive.
Of course, to the norm, looking at MLM from the outside, its ever so clear what is going on. MLM is nothing but a bunch of fluffed up promised of the unreachable merely to suck people in so those doing the sucking (pun intended) can make a quick buck off of you. Most people identify this quite easily. But the masses in MLM don't care and keep pushing and pushing and pushing trying to wear people down to get in so that they can benefit off of you. Much like the witch doctors of th 1800's, there is always a small portion of the population just dumb enough to take their chances and thus a new entrant to MLM is created.
MLM will never get respect, and people will always have to defend it, but luckily for them, an idiot is born every minute and there will always be enough people dumb enough to jump in because their desire for riches is greater than their intelligence for analyzing what they are actually doing.
