w = weeks

20w + 100 = 460

20w = 460-100 take 100 dollars from each side of equation

20w = 360 then divide both sides of equation by 20 dollars saved

20w/20 = 360/20

w = 360/20

w = 18 or 18 weeks of saving to hit $460

the equation is 460=20x +100 (subtract 100 from both sides)
then u would get 360 = 20x (divide by 20)
and you get x = 18 so it takes 18 weeks.

Hope that helps

100+20x=460. $100 for his birthday plus $20 per week(x), that equals $460.
solve by subtracting 100 from each side. to get 20x=360. then divide by 20 to get x=18. so he saved for 18 weeds to get that much money
