If you count the moon, Luna 4 in 1957. Otherwise is was The Russian Mars 3 in 1971, which crashed. The first successful landing was Viking 1 in 1976

That depends on your definition of "another world" and "land".
If the Moon and crash landing qualify, the the Russian Luna 2 probe impacted the Moon on September 14 1959. If you insist of soft landing, then the US probe Surveyor 1 soft landed on June 2 1966.

If you do not consider the Moon as another world, then Russian probe Mars 2 crashed on Mars on November 27 1971, and Mars 3, not suffering the failure its predessor experienced, soft landed on December 2 1971.
