Secret shopping is not a scam. However, if a company ask you to pay a fee to join then it is a scam.

Legitimate secret shopping companies will not charge you any fees to be a secret shopper.

The following is a link to a directory of mystery shopping companies. All of these companies are legit and will not charge you a dime but they will pay you to be a secret shopper.

The companies I do mystery shopping for are intelli-shop.com, aboutfacecorp.com, and beyondhello.com

The companies I work for pay on the 10th day of the month following the month you do the shop. Aboutface will even pay a bonus for submitting a well done report.

Good Luck and never pay any money to be a secret shopper. Definitely don't fall for the companies that promise to "train" you to be a secret shopper. Everything you need to know will be provided by the mystery shopping company.

I was chosen to be a secret shopper but they did not charge me anything to start. I never actually went on any of the assignments because they wanted you to do so much detail oriented things for such a small amount of money..
